Frequently asked questions
How does ProjectGrade calculate a final grade?
A student's final grade combines their team score, their individual contribution score, and any manual adjustment, weighted by the per-project configuration. The full formula stays visible to instructors and students — nothing is hidden.
What evidence can students attach to a contribution report?
Students attach links (pull requests, docs, designs) and upload image evidence such as screenshots directly to the report. Instructors also see GitHub contribution activity as supporting evidence.
Can students see their grades before release?
No. Grades are only visible to students once an instructor releases them — per team or for the whole project. Once released, students also see a history of edits to their own grade, and every action is captured in an audit trail.
How does the GitHub integration work?
Students create and own their repositories and add their GitHub username in Settings. Anyone on the team can connect the repo URL and sync activity. Contributions are attributed to students by username — the token stays with the instructor and is never shared.
Are notifications real-time?
Yes. When a report is reviewed, grades are released, a comment is posted, or an instructor sends an announcement, recipients get an instant in-app toast and a live-updating notification bell (via Pusher), plus email. It degrades gracefully if real-time isn't configured.
